Planning an electrical renovation for your 50 m² apartment? IZI by EDF can help you with your electrical work. Replacing the electrical panel, bringing your electrical circuits up to code, replacing outlets… Here’s what your electrical quote for your 50 m² apartment could look like.
Example of an electricity quote for a 50 m² apartment
Example of a Parisian apartment in need of renovation
🏢 Haussmann-style 2-room apartment, 50 m², in its original condition
🛋️ Accommodation layout: 1 living room, 1 separate kitchen, 1 bedroom, 1 shower room, 1 WC
⚡ The electrical panel was replaced during the 1990s, but no longer meets current electrical standards
🔌The ground supply is good to all rooms, but the apartment lacks power outlets in the kitchen and in the office area of the living room.

What are the electricity requirements for a 50 m² apartment?
👉 Remove the old 1-row electrical panel and install a new 2-row electrical panel better suited to the needs of a 50 m² two-room apartment
👉 Secure all electrical circuits in the home from the distribution board (use appropriately rated circuit breakers)
👉 Install new lines for the specialized circuits of washing machines, dryers and dishwashers, which did not previously exist
👉 Replace the sockets and switches in all rooms, add two power outlets in the living room (near the office area) and install two wall-mounted USB sockets on either side of the headboard (in the bedroom)
👉 In this example quote, there is no need to completely redo all the circuits, which are in good condition and already embedded in the walls.
Cost of electrical renovation for a 50 m² apartment
Electrical renovation of a 50 m² two-room apartment according to NF C 15-100 standards is likely to cost you between €100 and €150 including VAT per m². The desired finishes, the number of devices, and their customization can significantly increase the cost of your quote.

And you, what electrical work are you planning to start at your home?
To ensure the safety and electrical compliance of a 50 m² dwelling, electrical work is necessary after several years of use without renovation. The electrical standard – NF C 15-100 – has indeed changed!
Electricians typically recommend several interventions:
✅ Electrical panel replacement adapted to the area and number of rooms in the house.
✅ Installation of residual current circuit breakers and branch circuit breakers to ensure the protection of people and property.
✅ Electrical circuit refurbishment, in other words, the replacement of neutral, phase and ground wires.
✅ Grounding via the installation of ground rods, grounding plugs, grounding terminals and equipotential bonding.
✅ Replacement of electrical equipment. Outdated power outlets, switches or push buttons can be replaced with equipment that meets current standards and is in keeping with modern times.
✅ Installation of Lighting Connection Devices (DCL). These new generation sockets allow for the safe connection of lighting fixtures.
✅ Installation of a communication box and RJ45 sockets. To increase network connectivity, this installation is recommended (mandatory only in a new dwelling).
✅ Finishing work. To complete the renovation, aesthetic work such as installing false ceilings, cornices or applying paint can be considered, once your electrical installation has been renovated.
